Basketball Recap: Seminole County Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Seminole County can now relate to. They came up short against the Washington-Wilkes Tigers on Friday, falling 64-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Indians have suffered since February 27, 2024.

Washington-Wilkes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zion Bankston, who went 7-for-11 on her way to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Bankston a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (33%). Another player making a difference was Samaria Young, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

Seminole County's loss dropped their record down to 23-6. As for Washington-Wilkes, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-8.

Seminole County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Washington-Wilkes, they will challenge Telfair County on Tuesday. One thing working in Washington-Wilkes' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
