Baseball Recap: Palma's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Palma dropped their record down to 15-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Carmel Padres, falling 8-1. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Chieftains couldn't push the score so high this time.

Johnny Carnazzo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

As for Carmel, their record now sits at 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Padres, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Carmel's side, Matt Maxon made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Maxon is becoming a predictor of Carmel's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Maxon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs.

In other batting news, Sean Carr was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. John Beretti was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

While Palma had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
