Softball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers vs. Pickens Blue Flame

The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Pickens Blue Flame at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Blue Ridge 3.8, Pickens 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Blue Ridge is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Travelers Rest just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Devildogs by a score of 9-8. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, on Saturday Pickens' undefeated season almost came to an end. They had just enough and edged out T.L. Hanna 3-1. The three-run effort marked the Blue Flame's lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Pickens pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Blue Ridge, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Everything went Blue Ridge's way against Pickens in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, as Blue Ridge made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue Ridge since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
