Recap: Apollo Eagles vs. Greenwood Gators
After flying high against the Trinity Raiders on Monday, the Apollo Eagles came back down to earth. Apollo took a hard 57-41 fall against Greenwood on Tuesday. Apollo lost against Greenwood in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-46 score last time.
Loss or not, Apollo got some senior leadership from Jenna Dant who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and Jennifer Lee who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Lee's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Apollo's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Greenwood, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Apollo and Owensboro will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Owensboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday. Greenwood will be home for the holidays to greet Madisonville-North Hopkins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Madisonville-North Hopkins presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greenwood in Kentucky (Madisonville-North Hopkins is ranked 31st, while Greenwood is ranked 128th).
