Baseball Recap: Corinth Beats Houston for Their Sixth Straight Win

Corinth waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Houston Hilltoppers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2017.

Jacob Pierce made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Pierce wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bo Mitchell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Another was Jack Lester, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Corinth's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Houston, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-13-1.

Corinth will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hilltoppers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
