Basketball Game Preview: Douglas Tigers vs. Reed Raiders

The Douglas Tigers will take on the Reed Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Douglas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season.

Reed will be up against a hot Douglas squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Douglas strolled past McQueen with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 69-54.

Douglas had a senior duo take command as Daron Kizer went 7 for 11 en route to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals and Caden Thacker posted 16 points and four steals. Those three steals gave Kizer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Messick, who scored ten points and three steals.

Douglas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Reed came up short against Bishop Manogue on Wednesday, falling 58-38. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Douglas' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Reed, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Everything came up roses for Douglas against Reed in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured an 82-48 victory. In that match, Douglas amassed a halftime lead of 44-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
