GRISWOLD, Conn. - the Whalers had a big 26-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 39-7 victory over Griswold (Conn.).
New London scored on a touchdown pass by
Danny Maranda to
Jose Garcia*, a Garcia* touchdown run, a Maranda touchdown pass to
Nico Ramos* and a punt return touchdown by Garcia* in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Orinn Parke* in the first quarter, NL led 33-0 at the half.
The Whalers expanded their lead to 39 points entering the fourth quarter. New London scored once in the quarter on a touchdown.
Griswold's only touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
The Wolverines came in giving up 13.7 points per game this season. Griswold had a hard time against New London's offense, which entered the game scoring 30.8 points per game. Coming into the game the Whalers had allowed 23.8 points per game this year.
The defeat comes as a step back for Griswold, which notched a 16-14 victory over Fitch in its previous outing.
