Basketball Recap: Claremont Falls to St. Bernard in First Game of Season

Claremont had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 81-56 to the St. Bernard Vikings. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Despite the defeat, Claremont saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja'Mahri Smith almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Nolan Zitar was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took to post 12 points.

Looking ahead, Claremont won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Bernard, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on La Serna at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
