Soccer Game Preview: Lake Nona vs. Timber Creek

The Lake Nona Lions will square off against the Timber Creek Wolves at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lake Nona sitting on four straight wins and Timber Creek on 12.

Lake Nona is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Lake Nona who was credited with the victory. Lake Nona got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Doral Academy's two.

Moa Silva and Arthur Maranhao scored all three of Lake Nona's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Timber Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: Palm Harbor University, who was ranked tenth at the time (Timber Creek was ranked ninth). Timber Creek beat Palm Harbor University by a goal, winning 4-3. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Wolves considering their one-goal performance the match before.

Timber Creek's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five games. As for Lake Nona, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.

Everything went Lake Nona's way against Timber Creek when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as Lake Nona made off with a 5-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Nona since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
