Preview: McKeesport Tigers vs. Thomas Jefferson Jaguars
The McKeesport Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McKeesport entered their tilt with Greater Latrobe with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. McKeesport blew past Greater Latrobe 42-14 at home. Given McKeesport's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Greater Latrobe is ranked 111th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Keith Spell was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Spell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. Anthony Boyd and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in McKeesport's win.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson never let their opponents score on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 61-0 win over Connellsville. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Thomas Jefferson.
Thomas Jefferson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brody Evans, who threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes, and Sean Sullivan, who picked up 82 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
McKeesport's victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points per game. As for Thomas Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
McKeesport came up short against Thomas Jefferson in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 20-10. Can McKeesport avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
