Baseball Recap: Century Finds Playoff Glory Versus Pope County

With a playoff win on the line, Century rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Pope County Pirates 4-2. This was a revenge game for the Centurions: when they faced off against the Pirates back in March, they had to take a 20-17 defeat.

Brandon Plott made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Century let Jace Wright and Bryce Windings run wild. Wright went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Windings went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Century's record is now 14-4. As for Pope County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Century nor Pope County have any future games scheduled.
