Softball Recap: Bryan Wins Going Away Against Bath

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bryan had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Bath Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Golden Bears, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Bath's batters probably weren't too happy with Thea Staten, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 18 Ks (she gave up four walks). Staten has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reese Ruffer, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Josey Arnold, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Bryan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bath, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Coming up, Bryan will square off against Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Roughriders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Golden Bears surely won't give up without a fight. Bath does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
