Baseball Game Preview: Pasquotank County Panthers vs. First Flight Nighthawks

Pasquotank County hasn't had much luck against First Flight recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Nighthawks at 5:00 p.m. Pasquotank County has given up an average of 11.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pasquotank County is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Currituck County, falling 15-1.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but First Flight ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Nash Central 10-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Nighthawks.

First Flight got a great performance from Gavin Capps as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dillon Francis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Lance Jones was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Pasquotank County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for First Flight, their record is now 10-6.

Pasquotank County couldn't quite finish off First Flight in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
