Basketball Recap: Breathitt County Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Breathitt County won the last time they faced Letcher County Central and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Breathitt County Bobcats enjoyed a cozy 69-55 victory over the Letcher County Central Cougars / Lady Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Breathitt County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Canaan Gross, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. What's more, Gross also racked up three blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joe Honeycutt, who posted 11 points.

Breathitt County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Breathitt County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Letcher County Central, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9.

Breathitt County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-46 win against Jackson City on the 31st. Letcher County Central has also already played their next game, a 69-52 loss against Jenkins on the 31st.
