Football Recap: Logan-Rogersville Piles Up the Points Against Hillcrest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Logan-Rogersville). They breezed past the Hillcrest Hornets to the tune of 55-13 on Friday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Hornets are ranked 247th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Logan-Rogersville's win came down to the chemistry between Sam Frieze and his top target Gage Hale. Frieze threw for 127 yards and four touchdowns while Hale picked up 73 receiving yards and three scores. The dominant performance also gave Frieze a new career-high in rushing yards (54).

Logan-Rogersville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 350 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Logan-Rogersville's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Hillcrest, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Logan-Rogersville will venture away from home to face off against Marshfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Bluejays' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hillcrest, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bolivar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Liberators' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
