Football Recap: Our Lady of Good Counsel Falls Despite Big Games from Jackson Rice and Kobe Ellis

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Our Lady of Good Counsel can now relate to. They fell just short of the Gonzaga Eagles by a score of 31-28 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-7 back in October.

Our Lady of Good Counsel's loss came despite strong showings from Kobe Ellis and Jackson Rice. Ellis picked up 124 receiving yards and two scores, while Rice threw for 244 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Rice's passing game has become a key predictor of the Falcons' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise.

Our Lady of Good Counsel's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Gonzaga, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Our Lady of Good Counsel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gonzaga, they will take on DeMatha at 6:00 p.m. on the 23rd. The Stags' defense has only allowed 8.5 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
