Softball Game Preview: Centennial Golden Hawks vs. Buchanan Bears

Centennial is 0-4 against Buchanan since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Golden Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Buchanan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Centennial beat Frontier 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Hawks.

Madison Cabrera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lundyn Harrison was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Alicia Tackitt also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Buchanan fell victim to Clovis East and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timberwolves. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Buchanan also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Brooklyn Ainsworth gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

Centennial's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Buchanan, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-9.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Centennial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Buchanan struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Centennial couldn't quite get it done against Buchanan in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 6-1. Can the Golden Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
