Basketball Recap: Anthem Prep Comes Up Short

Anthem Prep lost against Valley Lutheran back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Anthem Prep Eagles took a 38-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Lutheran Flames. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Anthem Prep lost, don't look at Madi Hatfield. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.

Valley Lutheran was led to victory by Viddiate Clinton and Elise Winter. Clinton posted 18 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds, while Winter earned 15 points along with seven boards and four steals. Clinton has become a key player for Valley Lutheran: the team is 10-4 when she posts at least five steals, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Faith Rohloff, who put up four points.

Anthem Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Valley Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Anthem Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 33-21 loss against North Phoenix Preparatory Academy on the 4th. As for Valley Lutheran, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-37 defeat against Fort Thomas on the 7th.
