Softball Game Preview: Mulberry Grove Aces vs. Farina South Central Cougars

Mulberry Grove is 2-7 against Farina South Central since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Mulberry Grove will head out to square off against Farina South Central at 4:30 p.m.

Mulberry Grove can't be to happy about their upcoming road match considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Wednesday. They fell just short of Carlyle by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Aces have suffered since April 17, 2024.

Taylor Stone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Lola Johnson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Farina South Central got themselves on the board against Okaw Valley on Friday, but Okaw Valley never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 24-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Kinlee Thompson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Farina South Central got a massive performance out of Maddie Peddicord, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Bri Buchanan was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Mulberry Grove couldn't quite get it done against Farina South Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 10-7. Can Mulberry Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
