Basketball Game Preview: Downey Vikings vs. Bellflower Buccaneers

The Downey Vikings will host the Bellflower Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Downey's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.

Downey will head into Friday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 25-point drubbing they dealt Paramount on Friday. Tyler Harris was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 14 boards. The match was his 22nd in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Frank Ibarra, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Bellflower over Firebaugh in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bellflower blew Firebaugh out of the water with a 66-39 final score. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Buccaneers have posted against the Falcons since February 10, 2017.

Bellflower has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Downey, their victory bumped their record up to 18-9.
