The West Florida Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Wakulla War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
West Florida is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Yulee, sneaking past 2-1. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by just one run.
Abby Cogdill spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Leianna Wagner was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Courtney Bradley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Wakulla came out on top against Bishop Kenny on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The War Eagles put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 10-0 win. The War Eagles not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 16-0).
Bishop Kenny's batters probably weren't too happy with Charley Butler, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up a single walk).
On the hitting side, Brianna Stephens and Cylie Long did most of the damage at the plate: Stephens went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Long got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Walker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Wakulla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Kenny struck out 11 times.
West Florida's record is now 15-12. As for Wakulla, their record now sits at 20-4-1.
