Recap: Morningside Monarchs vs. Leuzinger Olympians
The Morningside Monarchs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 12th straight loss. They were dealt a 67-36 loss at the hands of Leuzinger. Morningside has struggled against Leuzinger recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leuzinger to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malachi Knight, who scored 15 points. Knight is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Raynell Gungon was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Morningside's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Leuzinger, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morningside will square off against Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leuzinger, they will head out on the road to take on Inglewood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Inglewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 491st, while Leuzinger is ranked 227th).
