Recap: Wossman Wildcats vs. Neville Tigers
The Wossman Wildcats waltzed into their match Thursday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They rang in the new year with a 62-52 win over Neville. Given Wossman's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Neville is ranked 57th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Travone Varner, who scored 16 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Johnson, who scored seven points.
Wossman's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Neville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6.
Wossman will be playing at home against Carroll at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Carroll is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. Neville is on the road again on Friday and play against Franklin Parish at 5:15 p.m. on January 5th. Franklin Parish is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
