Baseball Game Preview: Woods Cross Wildcats vs. Bountiful RedHawks

For the second straight game, Woods Cross will face off against Bountiful. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the RedHawks at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Woods Cross has three straight victories, Bountiful has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Woods Cross' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Bountiful 10-0. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Coleman Burbidge, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Bountiful off the board. Burbidge has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Woods Cross let Camden Olsen and Max Moffat run wild. Olsen went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Moffat went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Moffat is becoming a predictor of Woods Cross' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Beau Blackwell, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one double.

Bountiful's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Woods Cross, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
