Baseball Recap: Port Allen Beats Mckinley for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Port Allen waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the McKinley Panthers as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The Pelicans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Garrett Cline made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, James Fontenot was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Carson Chapman, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Port Allen's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for McKinley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Port Allen will be playing at home against Woodlawn-B.R. at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Port Allen's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Woodlawn-B.R.'s hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for McKinley, they will venture away from home to face off against Plaquemine at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
