Baseball Recap: Southbridge Comes Up Short

Southbridge had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 4-8 to make it five. They lost 15-7 to the Montachusett RVT Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-6 back in April.

As for Montachusett RVT, their record is now 7-5. Considering they have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Montachusett RVT's part, Patrick Hawley tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nate Snoonian, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Montachusett RVT is undefeated when Snoonian posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodhi Byars, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southbridge will face off against Leicester on Wednesday. As for Montachusett RVT, they will take on Assabet Valley RVT at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aztecs have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
