Baseball Recap: Shorecrest Prep Makes It Four in a Row at Home

While Shorecrest Prep's win against Sports Leadership & Management wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Shorecrest Prep Chargers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans on Tuesday, sneaking past 15-14. That's two games straight that the Chargers have won by just one run.

Luke Lavoie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jake Diner was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Shorecrest Prep: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Carson Granese also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Shorecrest Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Shorecrest Prep pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.5 hits in those games compared to only 4.8 in the others. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shorecrest Prep will square off against Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they will face off against IMG Academy Blue at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th.
