Basketball Recap: Loveland Classical Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

If Golden View Classical Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Loveland Classical, they should've done a better job of containing Kaelyn Doan. The Loveland Classical Lions walked away with a 47-38 victory over the Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels on Tuesday for which the team can thank Doan, who almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine steals. She has become a key player for Loveland Classical: the team is 11-4 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-5 otherwise.

Keira Doan was another key player, putting up four points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Golden View Classical Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mira Lensink, who posted six points and eight boards. Lensink is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Acocella, who shot 42% from the field en route to 16 points along with five assists and three steals.

Loveland Classical has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. Golden View Classical Academy is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Loveland Classical will square off against Simla at 3:00 p.m. on March 7th. Simla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season. As for Golden View Classical Academy, they have already played their next contest, a 40-31 win against The Pinnacle on the 26th.
