Baseball Recap: Lima Senior Takes a Loss

Elida hit Lima Senior with a four-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell 6-3 to the Bulldogs. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Cooper Twining spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lima Senior saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emmanuel Jokinen-Rutz, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Lima Senior has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Elida, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.

Coming up, Lima Senior will take on Celina at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Elida, they will square off against McComb at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
