Volleyball Recap: Southern Wayne Falls to Goldsboro in First Game of Season

Southern Wayne unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Goldsboro Cougars on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-21, 25-19.

Mylee Wiggs paced Southern Wayne's offense, picking up three kills. Wiggs got some help from Addison McPhail and her seven assists. Wiggs was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Southern Wayne is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Princeton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Goldsboro, they will challenge Arendell Parrott Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
