Baseball Game Preview: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. Batavia Bulldogs

For the second straight game, St. Charles East will face off against Batavia. The Fighting Saints will challenge the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, St. Charles East was able to grind out a solid win over Batavia, taking the game 6-2.

Joey Arend made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Arend wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was James Feigleson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

St. Charles East now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Batavia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16-1 record this season.
