Volleyball Recap: Cuthbertson Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Charlotte Catholic last Thursday, Cuthbertson came back down to earth. The Cavaliers lost 3-0 to the Marvin Ridge Mavericks on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Cuthbertson was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-10, 25-15.

Jaylynn Carter paced Cuthbertson's offense, picking up 13 kills. Carter got some help from Gigi Casseus and her 23 assists. Ava Fry controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Marvin Ridge to victory were Mia Hill and Jillian Young. Hill had ten digs and one assist, while Young had three digs and two aces. Young has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last 35 times she's played.

Cuthbertson has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-5 record this season. As for Marvin Ridge, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.

Cuthbertson has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Porter Ridge on the 18th. As for Marvin Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Ardrey Kell on the 17th.
