Volleyball Game Preview: Westfield Shamrocks vs. North Central Panthers

Westfield has gone 9-1 against North Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Shamrocks will take on the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. North Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Westfield, who comes in off a win.

Westfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Brownsburg, who was ranked eighth at the time (Westfield was ranked first). The Shamrocks skirted past the Bulldogs 3-2. The game was the first time the Shamrocks have beaten the Bulldogs on their court since September 21, 2017.

Westfield wouldn't go down easily and took Brownsburg into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The final score came out to 19-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-15, 15-6.

Emily Blevins and Brooke Neale were among the main playmakers for Westfield as the former had 30 assists and 12 digs and the latter had 12 digs. Blevins is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Jordyn Blair also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, North Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Jasper.

Westfield's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. As for North Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Everything went Westfield's way against North Central when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Westfield made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shamrocks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
