Baseball Game Preview: Mount Juliet Golden Bears vs. Vero Beach Indians

The Mount Juliet Golden Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Vero Beach Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Mount Juliet had just enough and edged out Davidson Academy 4-3.

The team relied heavily on Jacob James, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brady Anderson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Vero Beach put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Stewarts Creek.

Cody Morgan tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jace Romans was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Garret Srigley, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Vero Beach pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Mount Juliet, the win got them back to even at 3-3-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mount Juliet has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vero Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
