Basketball Recap: Pioneer Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Pioneer came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders with a sharp 67-42 win. The Diamondbacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 21 points or more this season.

Pioneer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ebonie Chatman, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 boards. That's the most points Chatman has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anika Fleischmann, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Pioneer is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-8.

Pioneer will welcome McAllen Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McAllen Memorial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they will challenge Vela at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Vela is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.
