Plainfield is a perfect 10-0 against Perry Meridian since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Quakers are taking a road trip to take on the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Plainfield will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.
On Monday, Plainfield was able to grind out a solid win over Decatur Central, taking the game 7-2. That's two games straight that the Quakers have won by exactly five runs.
Sidney Parks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Maci Hanlin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayva Mayes, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Plainfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur Central only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Perry Meridian). They blew past Pike 20-5 on Monday. With that victory, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Kennedy Simpson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Simpson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Perry Meridian got a massive performance out of Addison Short, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Macy Stroud was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.
Perry Meridian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Plainfield, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Perry Meridian's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Plainfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Perry Meridian, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 strikeouts. Will Plainfield keep running through batters, or will the Falcons buck the trend?
Everything went Plainfield's way against Perry Meridian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Plainfield made off with a 12-2 win. Do the Quakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
