Volleyball Recap: Southwestern Randolph Comes Up Short

Southwestern Randolph's tournament run continued when they took on Jordan on Saturday. The Cougars came up short against the Falcons, falling 3-0. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Stella Brown paced Southwestern Randolph's offense, picking up seven kills. Brown got some help from Mary Kathryn Coltrane and her 14 assists. Brown also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Madilyn Baker, racking up two apiece.

Jordan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evelyn Greene led the charge by getting ten digs and three aces. Greene is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Aniya McClain, who had five digs and three aces.

Southwestern Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Jordan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Southwestern Randolph didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Watauga on the 20th. As for Jordan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on the 19th.
