Baseball Recap: Conner Comes Up Short

Conner extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 15-16 in the process. They came up short against the Walton-Verona Bearcats, falling 7-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 12-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Walton-Verona, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-12. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by seven runs or more this season.

For Walton-Verona's part, the team relied heavily on Kainan Held, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Siebold, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Conner is taking a road trip to challenge Scott at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Walton-Verona does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
