Volleyball Game Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. St. Petersburg Green Devils

Northeast hasn't had much luck against St. Petersburg recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will look to defend their home court against the Green Devils at 7:45 p.m. St. Petersburg took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Northeast, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Northeast beat Hollins 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won six in a row.

Northeast walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-12, 22-25, 26-24.

Savannah Ryder and Laila Youkhong were among the main playmakers for Northeast as the former had 15 digs and seven aces and the latter had 25 assists and seven digs. That's the most aces Ryder has posted over her last four contests.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg suffered their biggest loss since September 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Indian Rocks Christian, falling 3-0.

While St. Petersburg had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21, 25-18.

St. Petersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Northeast, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
