Softball Recap: Bangor Comes Up Short

Bangor fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Cassopolis on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rangers by a score of 6-5. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rangers earlier this season, when they won 16-0.

Isabelle Horvath spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 23 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emily Wisniewski was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kazi Davis, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Bangor has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-8 record this season. As for Cassopolis, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Looking ahead, Bangor will head out on the road to face off against Bloomingdale at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cassopolis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
