Baseball Recap: Falkner Wins Going Away Against Ashland

Falkner won the last time they faced Ashland and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Falkner Eagles blew past the Ashland Blue Devils 13-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Myles Mitchell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mitchell was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Mitchell is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, John Lumpkin and Erick Lumpkin did most of the damage at the plate: John scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-2, while Erick scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. John is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Conner Lumpkin was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Falkner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Falkner's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs over those games. As for Ashland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Falkner will welcome Thrasher at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ashland will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Myrtle at 5:00 p.m. on March 28th.
