Preview: Eastern Musketeers vs. Triton Central Tigers
The Eastern Musketeers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Triton Central Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Eastern can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Switzerland County at home to the tune of 44-0. The win made it back-to-back wins for Eastern.
Eastern got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Jones out in front who rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Jones was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Nathan Mcbride was another key contributor, rushing for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Another reason for the win was Eastern's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Switzerland County's QB won't forget Caleb King anytime soon given King sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Triton Central had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.4 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They came out on top against Brownstown Central by a score of 28-17. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Triton Central was the better team in the second half.
It was another big night for Jace Stuckey, who threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes.
Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Triton Central, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-1.
Eastern took a serious blow against Triton Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, falling 58-0. Can Eastern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
