Basketball Recap: Natomas Skates Past Sutter with Ease

Natomas won the last time they faced Sutter and things went their way on Friday too. The Natomas Nighthawks blew past the Sutter Huskies, posting a 90-49 win. Given the Nighthawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Huskies are ranked 624th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Natomas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aeron Wallace out in front who went 7 for 10 on his way to 18 points in addition to five assists and five boards. That's the most points Wallace has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alfred Wilkins, who went 5 of 10 en route to 15 points and seven assists.

Natomas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.

Natomas' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Sutter, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Natomas will take on El Camino at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Natomas is facing El Camino at the right time seeing as El Camino is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Sutter, they will challenge Casa Roble at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Casa Roble knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Sutter likes a good challenge.
