Basketball Recap: Shawn Hammerbeck and Carter Craven Secure Win for Winner

Winner won the last time they faced Mahpiya Luta and things went their way on Saturday too. The Winner Warriors were the clear victor by a 60-40 margin over the Mahpiya Luta Crusaders. That looming 60-40 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

Winner was led to victory by Carter Craven and Shawn Hammerbeck. Craven almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, while Hammerbeck dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Craven a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Aiden Schroeder, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Winner smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Winner's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Mahpiya Luta, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Winner didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-28 win against Chamberlain on the 7th. As for Mahpiya Luta, they will host Todd County at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Todd County will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Mahpiya Luta surely won't give up without a fight.
