Basketball Game Preview: Cranston East Thunderbolts vs. Scituate Spartans

The Cranston East Thunderbolts will venture away from home to face off against the Scituate Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cranston East has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while Scituate will come in with six straight wins.

Cranston East lost 58-36 to Cumberland on Friday.

Meanwhile, Scituate didn't have too much trouble with Middletown on Friday as they won 37-20. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Islanders are ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Scituate pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Cranston East, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.

Cranston East might still be hurting after the 50-30 loss they got from Scituate in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Can Cranston East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
