Karmello Jones Turns in Season-Best Effort

Cross was led to victory by Karmello Jones, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Jones rushed for 289 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 87 yards.

The victory (which was Cross' fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Jones and Cross will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bethune-Bowman at 7:30 p.m. on October 25th.

Bethune-Bowman's 13-game losing streak dating back to last season is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Jaedon Bell. St. John had no answer to Bell on Friday as he threw for 172 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Bethune-Bowman's 13-game losing streak dating back to last season is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Maurice Dawson. Dawson turned in nothing short of a gem on Friday, picking up 44 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

This year, Dawson has caught those 2 touchdowns while averaging 21.3 receiving yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 1.67 receiving yards per game.
