Baseball Recap: Paramount Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

Paramount made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Norwalk, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Pirates never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly nine runs.

Brandon Martinez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Paramount's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicholas Medina, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Quinones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Paramount kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Paramount has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Norwalk, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Paramount will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lancers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
