Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Patriots vs. Pittsburg Pirates

The Heritage Patriots will head out to challenge the Pittsburg Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Heritage turned things around against Deer Valley on Tuesday. They breezed by the Wolverines to the tune of 85-54. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Wolverines are ranked 851st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pittsburg hadn't done well against Freedom recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Pittsburg walked away with a 66-56 win over Freedom.

Heritage's record now sits at 10-12. As for Pittsburg, their record is now 13-10.

Heritage couldn't quite finish off Pittsburg in their previous matchup back in January and fell 59-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pittsburg's Kahlil Bernard, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds.
