Basketball Recap: Prestonsburg Takes a Loss

Prestonsburg lost against Floyd Central back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Prestonsburg Blackcats fell to the Floyd Central Jaguars 50-45.

Floyd Central found their leader in freshman Reagan Laferty, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards. With that strong performance, Laferty is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Crase, who posted nine points.

Prestonsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Floyd Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Prestonsburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-43 win against Greenup County on the 8th. As for Floyd Central, they have also already played their next game, a 62-24 victory against Breathitt County on the 12th.
