Baseball Recap: First Assembly Christian's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

First Assembly Christian came into Monday's match having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Harding Academy Lions on Monday. The Crusaders not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd.

Ryker Minor made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. First Assembly Christian is 2-1 when Minor posts two or more runs, but 6-13-1 otherwise.

In other pitching news, William Lee looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, First Assembly Christian got a massive performance out of Christian Forrest, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Forrest has become a key player for the Crusaders: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-14-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Logan Furnas, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

First Assembly Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

First Assembly Christian's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 8-14-1. As for Harding Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

First Assembly Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
